Drummer Baru Avenged Sevenfold !

Mike Portnoy telah resmi didapuk sebagai drummer anyar Avenged Sevenfold. Dia pun telah memberikan pernyataan resmi tentang kepastiannya mengisi posisi drummer A7X. Berikut ini pernyataannya :

Walaupun saya dalam kondisi tidak normal, saya pasti sudah senang dapat membantu mereka keluar dari masalah ini dan saya yakin saya pasti bisa karena saya pikir Avenged Sevenfold adalah band besar … tetapi saat ini keadaanya sangat menyedihkan dan tragis, saya harus mengatakan bahwa saya benar-benar merasa terhormat telah diminta untuk bermain bersama mereka … dan aku pun tidak perlu berpikir dua kali untuk mengatakan ya.

Mereka (Personel A7X) adalah keluarga sejati dan merupakan pengalaman yang sangat emosional, saya berada di sini bersama mereka untuk pertama kalinya tanpa saudara mereka (The Rev) yang telah pergi. Tapi mereka telah membawa saya ke dalam keluarga ini dengan tangan terbuka dan ada semangat yang nyata dari diri saya untuk membantu mereka menyelesaikan proyek album mereka.

Saya melakukan partisipasi saya di album ini dengan sangat hormat untuk Jimmy dan saya tetap memainkan ketukan drum yang ia tulis untuk lagu dan catatan yang telah ia buat.

Saya ingin penggemar mereka menyadari bahwa aku tidak mencoba masuk kesini untuk mengisi posisi The Rev … Aku hanya sekedar untuk mempersembahkan sesuatu untuknya.

Profil mike portnoy

Mike Portnoy lahir pada 20 April 1967 dan dibesarkan di Long Beach, New York, di mana minatnya pada musik dimulai pada usia dini. “Ayahku adalah seorang DJ musik rock n ‘roll, jadi saya selalu dikelilingi oleh musik terus-menerus. Saya punya banyak sekali koleksi ketika saya masih muda dan sangat menyukai The Beatles dan juga Kiss. Tidak heran kalau akhirnya saya akan menjadi seorang musisi. “

Meskipun Mike belajar sendiri cara memainkan drum, dia mengambil kelas-kelas teori musik di sekolah menengah. Selama masa itu ia mulai bermain di band-band lokal Intruder, Rising Power dan Inner Sanctum, di Band terakhir mike dan kawan – kawan merilis album mereka sendiri. Mike meninggalkan band setelah mendapat beasiswa di Musik Berklee College di Boston.

Mike merupakan seorang kolektor yang luar biasa, Mike memiliki ruang penyimpanan Dream Theater memorabilia termasuk bootlegs, poster, kliping dan segala sesuatu tentang band tersebut. Koleksi video klip yang sangat banyak termasuk film favorit tahun 2001, A Clockwork Orange, Jacob’s Ladder, The Wall, seluruh episode The Simpsons dan Video pertandingan tinju.

Mike mengatakan bahwa pengaruh terbesar adalah Rush, drummer dari Neil Peart dan almarhum Frank Zappa. Drumer favorit lainnya termasuk Terry Bozzio, Vinnie Colaiuta, Simon Philips, John Bonham dan Keith Moon dan band-band seperti The Beatles, Queen, Yes, Metallica, Jellyfish, Iron Maiden, U2 dan Jane’s Addiction. Dia juga seorang penggemar musik rap.
